AUX RACINES DU VIVANT

Aux Racines du Vivant

Printed edition / Dissertation

This edition was produced as part of my diploma project, in collaboration with Lila Le Floch Meunier and Marjorie Colin.

Each of our dissertations presents a piece of collective thinking about interspecies relationships. These dissertations then led to the development of a joint design fiction project : "Et si demain...?".

I decided to study the importance of the visibility of the activities and exchanges of the living and I have focused my essay on plants and on the vision humans beings have of them.

In this dissertation, I have attempted to question the capacity of design to enable new perceptions of the living and the possibility to "reconnect" with the plant world.

I have tried to reconsider the invisible activity of the living, by exploring the fact that plants are endowed with sensitivity and able to defend themselves which implies a degree of intelligence and consciousness.

Then, I have questioned the human-plant relationship, and finally, the role of design in order to establish a new perception of the real and the immaterial, opening to new relation to the world.
